3D-Printed Skin and Animal Testing
Breaking news: L’Oreal will be using 3D-printed skin to test their products, having recently teamed up with Organovo, a bio-engineering startup. This means more accurate product research and will further skin-printing technology itself, making it more accesible to others, which may greatly reduce and eventually eliminate cosmetic testing on animals.
Note: Some outlets are reporting that L’Oreal is halting animal testing due to this recent partnership, however, this is not accurate. The company has been growing skin samples from donated tissues in the past, and has not tested on animals for some time now. This recent partnership means that tissue donation will no longer be required as they will be able to grow skin from scratch.
