Baby Rabbit Killed On Air to Make Absurd Point About "Hypocrisy in Our Relation to Animals"
Breaking news: To be filed under “sick and twisted”: presenters for the Danish radio show Radio24syv killed a defenseless 9-week-old rabbit on the air all allegedly to provoke a debate on “the widespread hypocrisy in our relationship to animals”. The Guardian has a video clip of host Asger Juhl taking the tiny rabbit out of a box and stroking it minutes before he and his co-hosts bashed the poor animal to death with a bicycle pump (click link below to view the video; no violence shown). Animal rights activist Linse Kessler was invited to the studio for the show, but when she realized what the hosts planned to do, she tried her best to save the rabbit, which the presenters had dubbed “Alan” before violently ending his life. The stunt has created a strong backlash against the show’s callous tactics, which many claim were unnecessary to create the type of debate that the act was theoretically meant to foment. Clearly, anyone who would kill an innocent animal to make a point about animal rights fails to grasp the finer points of what it means to truly advocate for those who cannot defend themselves.
