The New Dairy Standards

Breaking news: Saputo, the multi-billion dollar Canadian dairy giant has made headlines due to a new, zero tolerance stance on acts of animal cruelty. Due to the size of Saputo, they utilize a lot of outside suppliers, all of which will have to adhere to
a code of conduct, renewed each year, and to provide animal welfare training for employees.

Ideally, this will make waves and push to redefine the operating norms of dairy farms worldwide. By taking the first step, an industry giant like Saputo has the opportunity to lay the framework moving forward, which will likely generate a lot of positive PR.
This comes at the heels of a scandal when video footage released by Mercy for Animals showed employees of the Chilliwack Cattle Company “viciously beating cattle.”
