Top Chef Ilan Hall to Open Vegan Ramen Stand in LA
Breaking news: Season 2 winner of Bravo’s competitive cooking show Top Chef, Ilan Hall, will be opening an all-vegan ramen and pho food stand in LA’s Grand Central Market. The news represents a shift in Hall’s cooking interests, as his previous LA restaurant, The Gorbals, celebrated meats rather than eschewing them. Whether due to a personal change of heart or a desire to jump on the growing vegan bandwagon, Hall’s new food stand will provide lush Southeast Asian flavors to a vegan (and non-vegan, he hopes) audience. There will also be gluten free versions of the ramen dishes available.
Early word is that dishes will include Khop Ramen with doenjang broth, curry-roasted celeriac, and kimchi along with appetizers like beet buns served with pickles and hoisin sauce.
