Give Veg-Friendly Restaurants Feedback on Why You Dine
There has always been a great debate between vegans and vegetarians about whether to be patrons of restaurants that serve veg options, yet still serve animal products. Fortunately, the number of all-vegan restaurants in cities large and small is climbing, but we are still far from a tipping point. This means that, if people wish to enjoy the experience of dining out, most of the menus they see will be serving cruelty.
The Humane League has taken this ethical dilemma and turned it into an opportunity for advocacy with its Vegan Option Cards. Warmly stating “I ate here because you serve vegan options. Thank you!” is a wonderful way to express appreciation and to give the business owners feedback on what demographics they are serving. The more people inform businesses of what they would like to buy, the more of those products we will see. And, further, the more omnivores will see and likely try out for themselves!
Currently, the website is sold out of the Vegan Options Cards, due to a round of massive social media sharing. But, they should restock soon and then we can all get our hands on these simple and informative nuggets of advocacy. Alternatively, people still have the options of filling out comment cards, speaking directly with management, or taking to Twitter and other social media platforms to inform companies of the need for more vegan options. Sooner than later we will see the tipping point!
