First Vegan Butcher Shop To Open In The United States!
This month, the first completely vegan butcher shop will open its doors in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Titled The Herbivorous Butcher, the initiative was made possible after a successful Kickstarter campaign saw over $60,000 raised.
The founders of the shop, siblings Aubry and Kale Walch, have stated they have been busy over the last few years getting the meat-free ‘meats’ perfected and as a result, the shop will feature 35 vegan meats, cheeses, as well as butters that can be purchased in-store or ordered online. It will officially be opened on January 23, and according to the brother and sister, who had sold their meatless meats at farmers’ markets, the
“100% vegan cruelty-free meat alternatives capture the best flavors, textures, and nutrients that meats have to offer without their negative impacts on health, animals, and the environment.”
Some of the options customers can expect to see include teriyaki jerky, Korean ribs, maple glazed bacon, filet mignon, and the porterhouse steak (featured in the photo). Some of the cheeses include cheddar, mozzarella, smoked Gouda, and garlic pepper Havarti.
Their website adds,
“We started The Herbivorous Butcher to bring you small-batch, locally-sourced, all-natural meat alternatives that are always fresh, flavorful, and protein-rich so you never feel like you’re sacrificing anything for healthy and ethical eating.”
So if you are in the area, make sure to drop by The Herbivorous Butcher on January 23 to be able to try these incredible sounding vegan meats and cheeses made from greens, grains, legumes and seeds!
