Amy Poehler Teams Up With ASPCA To Promote Dog Adoption!
Actress Amy Poehler has recently had her organization, Smart Girls, team up with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in order to promote animal adoption, with some celebrity features!
The collaboration is for a new web series, titled “Heavy Petting”, since, according to Poehler, “smart girls adopt”. Described on the website as “like Tinder, but for adorable pets”, the series is set to feature a dog available for adoption every week, and the kicker? The dogs will be voiced by famous comedians and celebrities.
The campaign is of course bringing some humor-based attention to dogs who are ready to be adopted, and Gail Buchwald, senior vice president of the ASPCA Adoption Center, stated:
“We are happy to team up with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls to shine a charming light on the unique personalities of wonderful adoptable dogs in our care. With over 7 million dogs and cats entering U.S. shelters each year, there’s a perfect dog or cat out there for everyone. We hope this series inspires people to visit their local shelters and learn more about deserving pets in need of safe and loving homes.”
There are currently nine dogs featured, with comedians and celebrities such as Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, John Mulaney, Nick Offerman, and Ike Barinholtz using their voices for a good cause.
