Wendy's Introduces Vegan Black Bean Burger!
Need more proof that veganism is everywhere? Besides the growth of plant-based restaurants in general, major chains have noticed the shift in customer trends and are all scrambling to meet the need.
The latest fast-food chain to follow suit is Wendy’s, officially offering a vegan black bean burger in 24 select locations, including Utah, Ohio, and South Carolina. The burger is stated to have 19 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber, and is made with beans, wild and brown rice, farro, onions, corn, carrot, roasted green bell peppers and spices with a seven-grain bun. The burger comes with a spring mix and tomato, and is fully vegan if no cheese or ranch is ordered with it. It has been confirmed to be cooked separate from any meat.
The burger is in the test stage now, and depending on the outcome, Wendy’s could make it a staple on the menu in all of its locations, and considering that it is the third-largest fast food burger chain in the country, this is a significant move.
And it already seems like it will become a reality. The Columbus Underground noted that in one location:
“The crew in the kitchen was running to keep up with the orders…The demand for the bean burgers and the line were that ridiculous.”
Let’s see where the vegan takeover goes next!
