Online Vegan Cheese & Deli Shop to Open its Doors in Montreal!
According to Food & Wine, “2016 is the year to surrender to vegan cheese”. With the launch of Brooklyn’s first all-vegan nut-based cheese shop called Riverdel, to Gusta Foods announcing they will open a physical store in Montreal, the year looks promising so far!
Gusta Foods, based in Montreal, Canada, has been the go-to for Canadians looking for gourmet, high-quality and locally-made vegan cheese. The company also sells mock deli meats, but the cheese really takes the spotlight due to its incredible taste, minimal ingredients, and ability to melt–something that can be lacking in many dairy-free cheese alternatives.
The cheese is made from natural and non-GMO ingredients, including coconut oil, cashew milk, nutritional yeast, and spices, and has the flavor power of “aged cheddar”.
While Gusta Foods is available in shops and online, the company announced its plans to expand to a physical location in the spring of 2016 in the Jean-Talon Market in Montreal, after launching an Indiegogo campaign last year. While the vegan meats and cheese will be sold by weight, the website included another reason to be excited:
“A small dining area will showcase GUSTA products in a variety of gourmet comfort-food dishes: grilled-cheese sandwiches, smoked seitan and vegan poutines will be among the items on the menu, along with microbrewery beers and other locally-produced beverages.”
The exact date of the launch has yet to be announced, but if I know Canadians, Gusta has already won them over with their inclusion vegan poutine!
