London Beer Week Festival Features Great Variety of Vegan Options!
The notorious London Beer Week has officially begun, and for vegans who love beer, this is a great year to participate as there are many vegan options–including some flavors that are not very common! According to the website, London Beer Week celebrates:
“The great and good of the city’s beer scene, including the bars and breweries which make up this vibrant landscape as well as the best ales, lagers and ciders available.”
This year the festivities began on Monday February 22, and will run until Sunday February 28. The seven-day event will include over 100 participating bars and breweries in London, who will serve discounted beers (£3) to those who have purchased the £10 wristbands.
Beers can often be filtered with isinglass (dried fish bladder), but British newspaper The Telegraph had noted a new demand for vegan beers becoming prevalent. Metro have listed their top eight vegan beers available–as well as the bars offering them, during the festival and some of them definitely stand out and redefine what beer can be! Take for example the Oatmeal Cookie Stout by Brew by Numbers, a “rich, chocolatey brew with roasted nuts and caramel”, or the London Smoke by The Five Points Brewing Company, which is made with “smoked barley and wheat malts with chocolate and tobacco on the finish”. There are also some traditional, light and fruity flavors available.
So if you are lucky enough to be in London this week, make sure to check the festival out and sample some incredible (and unusual) vegan beers!
