Doomie's Home Cookin' Bringing Cruelty-Free Comfort Food to Canada!
While most vegans, no matter how health-conscious they may be, tend to have their go-to list of comfort foods, Doomie’s Home Cookin’, a Los Angeles-based vegan restaurant, seems to have set the bar with their menu options. Home of the vegan Big Mac, their menu states:
“Great food is great food. ALL of our dishes are VEGAN (MEAT FREE) versions of great American classics! If you are vegan, order any dish or dessert without hesitation.”
Those in Hollywood have been enjoying Doomie’s pulled pork sandwiches, fried avocados, mac ‘n cheese bowls, shrimp tacos, and peanut butter and bacon burgers since its inception. Toronto got a little taste of this menu in August 2015 when Doomie’s sold their vegan Big Macs and brownies at the Vegan Food and Drink Festival, and things were never quite the same. Now, it has been announced that Toronto will house a Doomie’s of its own–in less than one month!
According to blogTO, the location is set in the Parkdale neighborhood at 1263 Queen Street West and featured a sign reading “What Vegans Eat”. The Toronto location will feature all the comfort food classics of the American restaurant, and will be a sit-down location where diners can really enjoy their stay.
While no concrete date has been set yet, Doomie’s Toronto should be open by early April, and will definitely serve as a new vegan comfort food hot spot! To stay up to date on the official opening, you can follow Doomie’s Facebook page.
