Germany Holds Record for World's Largest Vegan Cake!
Germany is officially home to the world’s largest vegan cake, and it seems like a very fitting home considering vegan and vegetarian options have seen a very steady increase in the country!
The record was set just last weekend during the Rohvolution raw food festival in Berlin, Germany. The cake was created by the Essentis Biohotel Berlin staff, who were celebrating their fifth anniversary. With the help of 31 people, the impressive cake was created in 26 hours.
According to Guinness World Records, the raw vegan cake weighed a total of 338,9 kg and measured at 1.60 x 3.10 meters! It included 108 kg of dates, 67.5 kg mixed nuts and raisins, 81 kg hazelnuts, 27 kg coconut oil, and 16.5 kg cocoa powder, and all of these delicious ingredients were sourced from local producers! Tobias Grimm, the manager of Essentis Biohotel, stated:
“You are what you eat — And this world record attempt will make many people aware of healthy eating, besides, our cake is going to be a hit!”
Once Guinness World Records adjudicator Lena Kuhlmann verified the size and weight of the vegan cake, the hotel was presented with an official certificate for the achievement.
I think it is safe to assume that many vegans are hoping this record inspires even more people to create massive vegan cakes in order to compete!
