Vegan Meal Delivery Service Raises $5 Million in Funding!
Business Wire recently reported that Purple Carrot, the first plant-based and whole foods meal delivery service founded in 2014, has recently secured $5 million debt funding from WindSail Capital, which is a Boston-based investment firm that focuses on energy innovation and sustainability.
CEO and founder of Purple Carrot, Andy Levitt, elaborated on what the new investment means for the company:
“We started Purple Carrot to help people cook delicious plant-based meals that were not only good for them, but also good for the environment. We’ve made incredible progress so far, and with this new round of funding from WindSail Capital, we will be able to make an even greater impact.”
Last year Purple Carrot raised $3.8 million from investors that included New Crop Capital and Stray Dog Capital, and it was also the year that Mark Bittman, New York Times columnist, joined the venture, bringing a lot of attention to the startup.
According to the website, Purple Carrot offers “seasonal recipes and perfectly portioned ingredients” that are responsibly sourced to make cooking delicious and healthy plant-based meals easy. With the promise that all meals take 45 minutes or less to prepare, the program encourages everyone-including beginners, to learn how to cook and gain confidence in the kitchen!
