Chloe Coscarelli Reportedly Filing Lawsuit Against Partners

The idea of something being too good to be true has seemingly become the case for incredibly popular vegan eatery by CHLOE, established by chef and cookbook author Chloe Coscarelli.
As the restaurant is experiencing rapid growth and will soon have seven total locations, New York Post recently released an article outlining some of the details behind the apparent lawsuit filed by Coscarelli towards her financial partner, Jimmy Haber of restaurant company Esquared Hospitality, who is also the father of Samantha Wasser, Coscarelli’s partner and creative director of the restaurant. According to the article, after the deal was established in 2014 with all three parties agreeing to create a “vegan version of Shake Shack”, Haber eventually wanted to open non-vegan restaurants and eateries using the by CHLOE name, which Coscarelli refused.
According the suit, Haber then warned the chef that “she would need a bodyguard if she dared to meet with him in person.” Wasser then reportedly made an agreement with her father, that would sell all of her company’s assets to him in exchange for a $5 million loan, which Coscarelli stated she never approved.
While Haber and Wasser’s attorney has stated that their company “has always – and will continue to – act in the best interest of by CHLOE”, it is unclear now how the lawsuit will turn out. If by CHLOE has reached this level of success as a result of its incredible vegan food, it seems the wise decision would have been to leave it that way.
