A New Vegan Pizzeria Opens its Doors in Brooklyn!
I’ve always heard about the greatness of New York City-style pizza. While I have never actually tried it, with pizza being one of my top go-to treats, I was always curious about how good it could actually be. Now with the news of an all-vegan pizzeria that has opened up in Brooklyn this week, I know where I will try my first New York City-style pizza from!
Screamer’s Pizzeria is the vegan “lovechild of Blackbird Pizza and Champs Diner”, and according to Romany Pope, a representative of Champs Diner, the goal is to make up for the “pretty noticeable lack of authentic New York style pizza, done vegan and done well, here in NYC.”
The opening was on Monday June 13, where guests enjoyed pizza slices for $2 until all pizza was sold out! Just some of the options at the pizzeria include the Supreme, loaded with seitan pepperoni, bell peppers, onion, tomato sauce and vegan cheese, the Hawaiian, topped with pineapple, vegan ham and cheese, red onions and tomato sauce, and the Screamers, featuring cremini and oyster mushrooms, garlic oil, parsley, vegan cheese, and topped with homemade almond parmesan.
Screamer’s is open from 11am to 12am every day, and is located at 620 Manhattan Avenue, Greenpoint. You can stay up to date with Screamer’s and see photos of their very tempting pizzas on their Instagram page.
