Woman Rescues 250 Dogs from Israeli Animal Shelter [VIDEO]
Danielle Eden visited an animal shelter in Israel recently and found 250 dogs living in misery and squallor. As a cofounder of the Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary in Ontario, Canada, she has seen her fair share of appalling conditions and has brought animals back to Ontario so they can live the lives they deserve, but she was shocked to see how these dogs were living.
“This is the worst shelter she had ever seen,” sanctuary media director Clare Forndran told The Dodo. In a space made for only 70 or so dogs all 250 were crammed, sharing scraps with rats, whose ratio of dead to alive was hard to guess. The task of selecting which lucky few would be saved was too heartbreaking and so Eden made the decision to rescue every last one of them.
In the past few months 90 dogs have already found forever homes in Israel and 25 have been transported back to the Ontario Sanctuary. 150 still remain at the shelter, but thanks to a dedicated Israeli team the space is undergoing a complete overhaul and veterinarians have been brought in to tend to the animals needs. The Canadian rescue has taken responsibility for all of the dogs and the goal is to bring the rest overseas where they can find a peaceful future filled with love and comfort.
