Ellie Goulding Credits "Near Vegan" Diet for Body Shape & Energy Levels
Just yesterday we wrote about supermodel Christie Brinkley calling herself an “aspiring vegan”. A fellow aspiring vegan, singer Ellie Goulding, who stated she was following a near-vegan diet for about six months, stated in November of 2015:
“I call myself an aspiring vegan. It’s challenging, but not impossible. You just have to eat or drink a lot of greens.”
Crediting her figure to both high-intensity work outs as well as to her diet, Goulding shares some of the staple vegan foods she adores:
“I make green juice for myself almost every day. I put in things like bananas, avocado, spinach, broccoli – whatever’s in my fridge. Sweet potato fries and salad are my absolute favorites. They make the perfect meal. I eat a lot of quinoa and nuts, too, but I also love eating chips.”
Something Goulding has seemed to recognize early on in her near-vegan diet is that plant-based eating does not mean an end to comfort foods. She states:
“It’s actually easy to be a bad vegan because a lot of junk foods are vegan.”
Besides the fact that vegans have access to many vegan-by-default junk foods, or can create new and delicious ones themselves, Goulding spoke about the change she felt in her body and mood due to the diet:
“I’ve been vegetarian for six months and now my body’s different, my skin is different, my face shape is different, and my eyes are brighter. I have more energy and feel like a happier person.”
Due to her “Monster Vegan Burger” recipe–in collaboration with chef Jamie Oliver, and a Veganuary post on a supposed commitment to a plant-based lifestyle, there is speculation that Goulding has gone from aspiring vegan, to just vegan.
While there is no confirmation from the star herself at this point, it seems the many benefits of the diet–and the fact that she can give in to her cravings–could be reason enough for a switch in the future!
