Guy Fieri: "Someday I Will Write a Vegetarian Cookbook"
For many people, Guy Fieri, star of the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, is known for being very meat-centric–whether it is because of the restaurants he chooses to sample at or as a result of his his own restaurants’ menus. That was why it was a very pleasant surprise to learn that his show was going to feature The Herbivorous Butcher for an episode that aired in July of this year–and that he loved it!
Now, Fieri has opened up about his views on vegetarian and vegan lifestyles–and on some potential upcoming plans–to People during the Carnival Summertime Beer-B-Que that took place in New York City. He stated:
“I cook so much vegetarian and vegan food, it’s crazy! I always tell my family–and they laugh about it–but someday I will write a vegetarian book. My cousin, who’s a big vegetarian, tells me flat out, ‘You’re my favorite vegetarian chef.'”
Fieri stated that his views on plant-based foods were initially very limited like many others, but after cooking vegetarian dishes for his late sister, his opinion changed:
“I learned so much about it. At first, people think about vegetarian food like, ‘Here’s some veggies. Here’s some pasta.’ But there’s so much more you can do in the vegetarian and vegan world.”
Here’s hoping that Fieri himself will show others the endless (and delicious) possibilities in the world of plant-based cooking!
