UFC: "Most Anticipated Fight of the Year" Features Vegan Fighter Nate Diaz
Back in March, vegan UFC fighter Nate Diaz beat opponent Conor McGregor during the UFC 196 fight that took place in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Diaz won after just two rounds, getting McGregor in a “rear naked choke” and beating him by submission. After the win, his older brother Nick Diaz tweeted, “Conor McGregor got his ass kicked by a vegan.”
“Me and my brother are at the top of the game and have been for a long time. We’re obviously doing something right. Besides knowing how to kick somebody in the head, you should know how to feel good tomorrow…I hear a lot of criticism from people saying you need meat to be strong and for recovery, and it’s a bunch of bullshit, because I train harder than everybody.”
As the win in March was what ended McGregor’s 15-fight winning streak, the Irishman understandably wanted a rematch, and the time has finally come. In what is being called “the most anticipated fight of the year” the duo will go head-to-head again this Saturday night in Las Vegas for the main event of the UFC 202 at the T-Mobile Arena.
For UFC fans–and those who are just rooting for the vegan in the ring–there has already been some pre-fight drama during a press conference, which ended in the pair throwing water bottles at each other. According to Global News, “Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz left no doubt that the drama will definitely be there for their highly anticipated rematch at the UFC 202.” Let’s see if Nick Diaz will have something to tweet about after this match!
