Bay of Plenty's First Vegan Festival to Take Place This Month!
Vegan festivals are always fun and exciting, especially when they are an area’s first. According to Bay of Plenty Times, the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand will have its first ever vegan food and lifestyle festival this month, “dedicated to showcasing the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle to vegans and non-vegans alike.”
The founder of the Vegan Vibes festival, Rachel Duffy, spoke to the publication about the festival and about the different vendors who will participate. According to the article, the festival will feature:
“Gourmet vegan cuisine from New Zealand’s top food trucks, including a vegan beer brewed especially for the event from local award-winning craft brewery Mount Brewing Co Brewery. There will also be local vegan fashion, health and beauty products for purchase and the opportunity to attend intimate and educational workshops to hear stories from other people who have incorporated vegan principles into their lives or businesses.”
The article also cites a study by Roy Morgan Research, which states that the amount of vegetarians (or mostly vegetarians) in New Zealand has increased 27 per cent from 2011 to 2016, and as a result of Duffy’s experience organizing vegan events in the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Auckland, she has also noted a “growing trend towards families exploring the benefits of a plant-based diet, and moving towards a full-time or part-time vegan diet.”
Vegan Vibes will take place at Soper Reserve at 95 Newton Street at Mount Maunganui on September 24, and you can find out more about the vendors right here.
