Mýa Discusses the Many Benefits of a Vegan Lifestyle [VIDEO]
Award-winning singer and songwriter Mya delighted many of her fans when she referred to herself as a “hardcore vegan” in an interview. Now, she is back with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in a new vegan awareness video on her three-year strong vegan lifestyle.
In the video, Mya discusses her personal reasons for becoming a vegan, stating that it initially started off as a “will power challenge” from vegetarianism, and that as a result of all of the information she learned, it is something she will never “turn back from.” While she refers to herself as a “brand new vegan,” Mya states that the lifestyle has done “wonders” for her entire life, and elaborates:
“Some of the changes that I’ve experienced being vegan…I’m no longer anemic, I’m intaking so many more healthy foods–obviously vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds that are iron rich. I thought you had to have meat to have protein, get your iron, and that’s just false. That’s false information. I no longer get sick. My skin is clear, I lost 30 pounds, I don’t have to go to the gym as much, and I just have clarity.”
While the health benefits Mya has experienced from her vegan diet alone would be a great reason to continue, the R&B sensation also spoke about the treatment of animals in various industries and how that further solidified her resolve. She states:
“The more information about the truths and harsh realities of treatment of animals as well as the process of manufacturing food or meat products–including seafood, including the dairy industry, which I was oblivious to as a vegetarian, it prompted me to continue this journey, which I’m very proud of, but it is impossible to turn back.”
Mya ends the video stating “if you want to see a huge difference in your life, give vegan a try!” You can watch the entire video below:
