Moby's New Album A "Wake up Call" Based on Vegan Worldview
On Friday October 14, Moby is set to release his latest album, These Systems Are Failing. Described as an “aggressive post-punk record”, LA Weekly writes that it is Moby’s most “rock & roll album in 20 years.”
A long-time vegan and owner of Little Pine, a vegan restaurant in Silver Lake, Moby is also bringing in animal rights and environmentalism in this new politically-charged album. Described as his “first real attempt at a wake-up call based on a worldview shaped by his veganism,” he tells LA Weekly:
“I’ve always wanted to make socially conscious or political music. But I’ve never been good at it. I would try to write vegan songs and political songs, and honestly? They were strident. I’m not saying that now I am good at it, but now I just feel more comfortable.”
According to The China Post, the release of the new album will also be the debut of his new act called Moby and the Void Pacific Choir. While Moby hasn’t toured in years, his one performance this year will be for Circle V, a vegan music and food festival set to take place on October 23 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, benefiting Mercy For Animals.
