Montreal Vegan Festival to Feature Food, Films, Demos & Speakers!
The Montreal Vegan Festival is celebrating its third year this November 5 and 6, taking place at the Bonsecours Market in Old Montreal. The festival will feature vegan cooking demos, documentaries, exhibits, speakers and lots of delicious vegan food-all with free admission.
The Montreal Gazette states that the “bilingual festival, which attracted 10,000 visitors in 2015, will host about 40 producers and speakers” and notes some of the many highlights attendees can expect:
“The speaker list includes competitive runner and nutrition student Alister Gardner, cookbook author Isabelle Gélinas, vegan blogger Ophélie Véron, vegan cooking teacher Geneviève Deschênes, animal-rights activist Georges Laraque and more than a dozen others. The talks and demos on new products and the health and ecological aspects of veganism will be offered each hour.”
Some of the workshops that will be featured during the two-day festival include DIY vegan cosmetics, a how-to on vegan almond ricotta and Havarti cheese, cooking classes for desserts such as salted caramel butter, fudge, raw brownies, and much more. The festival itself begins at 10:00am on November 5, with a special screening of The Ghosts in Our Machine taking place on November 4 at 7pm.
