Vegan Activists Open Up "The Animal Museum" in LA!

A new LA-based museum is making waves in the animal rights community. The Animal Museum will host its grand opening on December 3 and celebrate its arrival as the first of its kind in the US. The 6,000 square foot space will feature a revolving variety of exhibits, beginning with its “Crazy Cat Ladies” display, which pays homage to human-feline companionship.
Other exhibits visitors can anticipate are “The Sexual Politics of Meat” in February, named after the iconic book by Carol J. Adams and featuring artwork by 14 women on the overlapping elements found in both meat production and gender oppression. Later that month, “Animal Protection: An American Movement” will be on display, an overview of the last 150 years of the fight for animal rights in the US.
Co-owners Ellen Levinthal and Carolyn Melino Mullin – both animal rights activists – are excited to bring these exhibits to the people. Levinthal told The Washington Post:
“This is the first museum of its kind in the country, if not the world, to show the human-animal relationship. What we want is to empower people and encourage change.”
