Canadian Vegan Buys Gigantic Century-Old Lobster, Sets It Free
Canadians setting lobsters free may just become a new trend! CTV News reports that a 23-pound lobster that was “taller than a toddler” was caught in the Bay of Fundy by St. Martins, New Brunswick this week. In an interview with Catherine MacDonald, the co-owner of the Alma Lobster Shop, “King Louie” was estimated to be over a century old. She stated:
“It’s beautiful. For a lobster to be 23 pounds and to be that large, there was nothing else that was going to be a predator — except man.”
Luckily, thanks to a vegan activist in Nova Scotia, the lobster was also saved by a human. According to MacDonald, King Louie sold for $230 with the request that “it be released back into the ocean.” King Louie was set free on Tuesday and MacDonald stated:
“It went full circle. It was released on a vessel out in the Bay of Fundy in front of the village.”
Perhaps King Louie will join the lobsters freed (and blessed) earlier this year!
