New "Detroit Vegan Soul" Restaurant To Open in April!
The soul food destination restaurant of the midwest, Detroit Vegan Soul, is gearing up to open up its second location. The West Side expansion is slated for opening at the beginning of April and will offer the same delicious comfort food in a similiar, cozy setting as its West Village spot.
The expansion will take the place of an old ice cream shop and will serve up southern favorites like Okra Stew, Black-Eyed Pea Hummus, and “Catfish” Tofu. A larger kitchen and dedicated parking area are suspected to pull in more customers, yet the intimate feel will be maintained in its dining room, which will seat about 34 at a time. Co-owner Kirsten Ussery-Boyd told Eater:
“We wanted to keep the same cozy, intimate atmosphere we have in West Village. It will be warm and a little more modern and will be a mix of refined woodwork with vintage touches.”
Detroit Vegan Soul has experienced enough success that the owners are in talks of opening even more locations. However, we will have to wait patiently for those details as they roll in!
