BAFTA Annual Award Ceremony Serving Vegan Menu
We wrote about how the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards featured a delicious-sounding plant-based menu last year, with some of the vegan celebrities present including Natalie Portman, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Jessica Chastain, and Joaquin Phoenix. This year will be no different, as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) just sent out a press release, stating:
“PETA just received word from Anton Manganaro, head chef of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), that organisers of the annual awards ceremony (the BAFTAs) have created an extraordinary, mouth-watering, animal-free menu sure to delight vegan A-listers such as Casey Affleck, Alan Cumming, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Joaquin Phoenix, and Natalie Portman.”
Some of the options guests can expect include a mixed-grain salad with pickled vegetables, beetroot relish, pea shoots, chickpea masala served with a croquette and coriander cress, with a coconut panna cotta with a fresh raspberry and basil salad as dessert.
The event will take place on Sunday February 12 and as PETA director Elisa Allen notes, “nominees who don’t win on the night can still be awarded a gorgeous vegan meal – which is golden for their health, animals, and the environment.”
