Select Starbucks Locations in New York Offering Vegan Breakfast Option
Starbucks seems to be a coffee chain that is paying close attention to eating trends, which includes keeping their “vegan customers in the forefront.” In 2015, a spokesperson for the company stated they were in the “testing stages of several new products that would qualify as vegan,” and in fall of last year, almond milk was introduced as a staple at the chain after a survey indicated it was a “top customer product request.”
Now, select New York metro locations of Starbucks have introduced a new vegan breakfast option, Overnight Grains, and Starbucks Melody describes the new option:
“Starbucks Overnight Grains are made from a blend of steel oats with quinoa and chia in coconut milk, tropical compote, and topped with toasted shaved coconut and sliced almond topping. The tropical compote has sliced mango, very lightly sweetened with a passion fruit juice. The overnight grains have 6 grams of protein and they are also vegan.”
The Overnight Grains are currently a test item only, and time will tell if the option becomes popular enough to be introduced as a staple in all locations.
