Bill Nye the Science Guy: "Plant-based diets are the future"
Current CEO of The Planetary Society Bill Nye, best known for being the host of the popular children’s science show Bill Nye the Science Guy, was just featured on a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread, ahead of the April 21 launch of his new Netflix series, Bill Nye Saves the World.
While there were over 10,000 comments in the thread, thanks to Plant Based News, Nye’s response to a question surrounding veganism was highlighted for us all to see. In 2015, during a lecture that took place at the University of Central Arkansas, Nye had stated that “plant-based diets may be the future.” Now, he seems to be more certain as when he was asked what his thoughts were on “animal agriculture and the promotion of a vegan diet as to reduce our impact on climate change,” he responded:
“Plant-based diets are the future. I look forward to food preparations that are not “derivative bits,” as we say in comedy writing. Instead of “coconut bacon,” for example, I hope there is just delicious stand-alone coconut preparations. Cooking is a competitive business. I look forward to the emergence of new plant-based dishes.”
The seemingly small difference of the “may” becoming a confident “are” in less than two years is definitely a good sign for the plant-based movement. To read the entire Reddit thread, visit this link.
