Footballer Dale Bennett on Vegan Diet: “It’s not a trial. I feel so good for it”
The Sun recently did a feature on vegan English football player Dale Bennett-who currently plays for eco-club Forest Green Rovers.
Bennett joined the world’s first vegan football club in 2013 after a “career-threatening car crash” and is now a vegan himself, able to “break the mould.” He states:
“When I first came here it wasn’t a diet I took that seriously as I didn’t know much about it. But it’s been a couple of months now that I’ve been doing it and I feel so good for it. The stats show it’s improved my performance. The last couple of years we have done the same fitness testing in pre-season and this year my results were significantly better. The only thing that has changed is my diet.”
Performance is not the only benefit of a plant-based diet for Bennett, as he adds:
“When I wake up I feel more vibrant and energetic — I used to feel sluggish in the mornings. It’s not a trial. It’s a decision I’ve made that I’ll not eat meat again. It’s something my wife and I believe in now — and when we have kids the diet will be the same for them.”
Another bonus? Bennett states that cravings for steak or dairy do not “even cross [his] mind.” To read the full feature, visit this link.
