Sixers Center Jahlil Okafor on Veganism: “I feel great and I am going to stick with it.”

Jahlil Okafor, center for the Philadelphia 76ers, was recently the focus of a Metro US article, surrounding his newfound plant-based diet.
In the article, it is noted that during a Sixers media event, Okafor stated:
“I took initiative this offseason to try and diet and lose weight. It wasn’t easy. The first drastic change I made was my diet. I became a vegan. I did it gradually. First I got rid of dairy and meat and my favorites, like cheese.”
The 21-year-old reportedly shed 20 pounds during the summer on a “mostly vegan” diet (he ate fish), but is now committed to a “full on” vegan diet, with health being his main motivation:
“The reason for doing that was to become healthy. I read this offseason that dairy was an inflammatory and my knee was swelling up, and I am a full on vegan now. I feel great and I am going to stick with it.”
While he states he does miss dairy products, eggs and fast food, Okafor adds that he “cut it out,” and is “glad [he] did it.”
