Pizza Hut UK Adds Vegan Cheese as ‘Permanent Fixture on Menus’
UPDATE: The vegan cheese trial at Pizza Hut in five locations in the UK came to an end on November 26, and after an “amazing customer response,” Hospitality & Catering News notes:
“Pizza Hut Restaurants (PHR) has just announced the roll out of vegan cheese on its pizzas across all its Huts from Wednesday 29th November, following the success of the initial trial and the huge customer demand for the product.”
The article adds that the option of Violife vegan cheese will be made “available to all diners across all 262 outlets nationwide,” as a “permanent fixture on [the] menus.” The dairy-free cheese option will cost £1 extra, except when it is added to pizzas on the Kid’s Menu.
September 19, 2017: Remember when we said London is a vegan paradise? Well, Sussex and Kent are following in the city’s footsteps as pizza chain Pizza Hut plans to experiment offering vegan cheese in five locations throughout the counties.
According to Metro, the trial runs between Monday October 2 to Sunday November 26 in Bluewater, Canterbury, Chatham, Crawley and Thanet. Pizza Hut, like Canadian pizza chain Pizza Pizza, opted for Violife’s vegan cheese as its temporary dairy-free topping.
As Metro notes:
“If there’s enough interest, though, the chain will surely look into spreading the dairy-free love far and wide.”
If you live near any of the five locations listed above, mark October 2 on your calendar and “go order a vegan cheese pizza!”
