Fashion Designer Tom Ford Goes Vegan
According to Vegan Food & Living, in a recent interview with Vogue, fashion designer and film director Tom Ford states that he has been a vegan since the summer.
In the January 2018 issue of the magazine, Ford states that his decision came as a result of watching documentary What the Health, which also inspired musician Ne-Yo to adopt a plant-based diet. He detailed telling fellow fashion designer and vegan Stella McCartney about his decision:
“I sent a note to Stella McCartney – one of my best friends and one of Jack’s godparents – and I said, ‘Stella, you’re not going to believe this,’ thinking she would say, ‘Well it’s about time!’ But she didn’t, she said, ‘Congratulations.’ She was very gracious about it.”
Ford added that he has since stopped eating Percy Pigs, and although there is a vegan version of the gummy, he states “they’re not the same.”
As Vegan Food & Living notes, hopefully this decision influences “the design of his brand’s fashion range,” to use “alternative materials to the wool, silk, leather, and fur they currently use.” Both Gucci and Michael Kors have recently announced a fur-free policy.
