New Research Finds There Are 3.5+ Million Vegans in the UK
New research conducted by Compare the Market and Professor of the Environment at Gresham College Carolyn Roberts shows a significant rise in veganism in the UK.
After they “polled the nation,” they found:
“Right now, in the UK…there are over three and a half million vegans and over seven million vegetarians.”
The survey also concluded:
- 7% of the population is vegan
- 14% are vegetarian
- 31% are eating less meat
- 19% are eating less dairy products, and
- 29% are eating mainly locally sourced food
When faced with the “dilemma of choosing their car or eating meat” in the “battle to save the environment”:
“Nearly half say they would no longer eat meat, less than one in five say they would no longer drive, a third aren’t sure.”
