Brighton-Based Tea Shop Goes Dairy-Free as Trial
Bluebird Tea Co., a Tea Mixology Company based in the UK, is having a one-month trial of only using plant-based milk in its Brighton location.
According to the company’s Instagram:
“Our Brighton store is going plant mylk only for April! We sell tea, right?! As you can appreciate we also serve an awful lot of milk with our teas – to quench our Nation’s need for a strong milky tea (or cheeky chai or matcha latte!). We have a large vegan communiTEA as well as many people with dietary needs so being able to support them (even just in a small way) live their life a little easier is a big thumbs up for us.”
The post continues:
“But why go totally dairy free? We have a large number of team members at BB who are living dairy free for various reasons and we want to support them by being the best place to work we can be. We also have a very strong environmental ethos and know how much the dairy and meat industry is contributing to the problems we face as a global community. We built this business to enable us to make change in the world and influence causes we care about.”
With the one-month dairy-free trial, the company adds that it hopes to “show people that actually plant mylks are just as good” and “to see whether it makes a difference to people, to start conversations, to stir emotions.”
In the end, Bluebird Tea Co. states that if they can successfully change one of their staple ingredients and influence a change, “surely others can follow?” With over 3.5 million vegans in the UK, it seems to be the right move.
