World’s First 24-Hour Vegan Drive-Thru Set for Expansion!
UPDATE: VegNews reports that Globally Local, which opened the world’s first vegan drive-thru in London, Ontario, is now set for expansion!
According to the article, the comfort food restaurant will be “franchising up to 10 additional locations in the next 12 months in the Ontario area,” before expanding to different areas throughout North America.
Founder James McInnes told VegNews:
“We want to be a global contender in the fast-food world and we believe that by finding strong franchise partners, we can make this dream a reality.”
April 27, 2017: Just last week, we wrote about London, Ontario-based Globally Local’s new menu item, the Maple Crunch. Well, “Canada’s first all-vegan fast food restaurant” has something even more exciting up its sleeve–the launch of the world’s first 24-hour vegan drive-thru!
Set to be unveiled this summer, the drive-thru will be located at the restaurant’s second location (the first being at 252 Dundas Street). On April 22, the announcement was posted on Facebook:
“We are beyond excited to announce the launch of our second fast food restaurant – located at a former Harvey’s on Highbury and Cheapside in London, ON. Our new location features seating for 120 people, lots of free parking, 24/7 high-tech drive thru, huge infrastructure for quick service, easy access to buses and a very short distance from Fanshawe and UWO [University of Western Ontario]. This location will allow us to develop a model that we plan to take global and change the fast food industry forever. The revolution starts June 2017!”
As One Green Planet notes, many people would be more than happy to “venture out at 2 A.M. just for the authentic experience of eating a vegan Big Mac in a car.” Check out Globally Local’s incredible menu options here and make sure to plan a visit to London!
