A&W Canada to Add Beyond Burger to Menu!
Exciting times here in Canada! A&W Canada, the country’s second largest burger chain with 925 locations nationwide, will add the Beyond Burger to its menu come July 9!
This is Beyond Meat‘s “largest food service partnership to-date,” making the Beyond Burger
“Now available at more than 10,000 restaurants & food service outlets, the largest availability in the new era of plant-based burgers.”
There is a strong demand for plant-based alternatives in Canada as market research firm Mintel notes:
“More than half (53%) of Canadians say they eat meat alternatives, including one in five (18%) who claim to eat them at least a few times a week.”
A&W’s Beyond Meat Burger is “created to meet burger lovers’ craving for a juicy, mouthwatering burger and will feature a classic build of lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles.” For vegan diners, “the Beyond Burger patty can be incorporated into any of the A&W builds currently on-menu.”
While the chain currently has a Veggie Deluxe option that features a now-vegan patty, the bun it is served in (7-grain) contains eggs and the burger is served with cheese and ranch dressing. However, according to this Reddit thread, the sesame bun is vegan and there is also a lettuce wrap option.
