Did You Know There's a Vegan Running for US President?

Clifton Roberts, vegan for the last 18 years, announced his nomination for office of President of the United States of America last week, yet you may not have heard of him or his affiliation. Roberts is CEO of The Humane Party, a legitimate political party based in the ethics of ethical treatment of all living beings.
“I am a voice of the Humane Party, a party that offers you, me, our non-human animal friends, and citizens—that are naive or unaware of the issues it addresses and the solutions it offers—an inspired and refreshing platform … A platform to live by, and a platform that I would surely die for.”
The Humane Party was established in 2009 and is currently headquartered in Los Angeles, California. They are working on establishing jurisdictions in all 50 states and has been working hard to build its presence and credibility. Denying any inference of being a single-issue party, the Humane Party describes its vision as including a prosperous economy, fiscally responsible government (“for whom ethics and integrity are not optional”), peace between all nations, an educated population with abundant opportunities, and a legal system dedicated to preventing harm or exploitation to all living creatures. Not only does their vision paint a spectacular picture, but they also require officials to represent the party’s values:
“All candidates running under the Humane Party banner must sign a statement indicating that, to the best of their ability, they personally choose only those foods, clothing, and other products and services that are free from exploitation.”
California voters can register to vote as a Humane Party member and registration in other states will be coming soon. The future certainly is vegan!
