Tool Vocalist Maynard James Keenan’s Winery is Vegan!
UPDATE: A Clearly Veg reader let our team know that unfortunately Maynard James Keenan posted this photo in response to realizing his winery is vegan:
He later added to his initial Instagram post, stating:
“Hey Offended Vegans. We just let you know in our own sarcastic way that our wines are f*cking vegan. The bacon never touched the wine. #booboohugs)”
Black Sabbath and Tool have something in common other than both of them being heavy rock bands–both have members that prove compassion towards animals is always hardcore!
Maynard James Keenan, who is the vocalist for metal band Tool, has confirmed that his winery Caduceus Cellars, based in Arizona, is cruelty-free and that all of his wines are made without the use of any animal products! Many wine and alcohol companies use isinglass (dried fish bladder) in order to filter out wine during production, but Maynard has confirmed that his label opted for a more natural approach during filtration by using fermented grapes and paper to collect any residue.
Maynard began the label 12 years ago and according to him, the wine reflects both his music and region:
“My art and music has been described as “thick, dense, rich, complex, engaging, emotional, and spiritual,” by those who are fans. And an “acquired taste” for those kind others who are not. Arizona is “thick, dense, rich, complex, engaging, emotional, and spiritual,” as well as being an “acquired taste.” We are a match made in heaven and surely these qualities will be reflected in the wine that Arizona will present to us. My job now is to LISTEN, as if a medium, to every detail no matter how subtle and present her story unaltered.”
A very poetic description for sure! To view the range of wines that Caduceus Cellars offers, make sure visit the link right here–you have be to 21 or over to enter!
